Recap: Queen City Food Swap #2
|May 13, 2012||Posted by Ashley Marie under Events, Food|
Boy, can I count on my devoted little group of QC Swappers!
Another quarterly QC Food Swap went down last Sunday, May 6th, and by golly, it was another success. With almost double the turnout as the first swap, this gathering brought out about 20 people with even more goodies than before. Six bottles of wine and one enormous pitcher of sangria later, my guests were drunk and happy. The spread was impressive, this time with national favorites like tamales, lumpia, and home made bagels with lox. We had breads, layered cheesecakes, pickled seafood, soup, collards with smoked turkey and cornbread (go, mom!), dill potato salad, rum cake, flavored vodka (toot, toot), sweet basil butter (which went phenomenally with the strawberry muffins, Jamie!), grilled pickles that I am currently trying to replicate, and cookies galore. There were friends, strangers who are soon to become friends, family, and spouses. And that was just half of it. And if you missed it, well, I am sympathetic. But don’t worry, you’ll have another chance soon enough.
