Celebrate the Right Now: Blackberry Lavender Margarita
|January 29, 2012||Posted by Ashley Marie under Drinks|
Whatever your personal situation may be, it’s time to celebrate. Whether you’ve been consistent with that New Year’s detox for almost a full month now, accomplished a big feat at work, just finished getting your book published (congrats, auntie!), or simply have stuck with something caustic for another year now (what a trooper we are), it’s cause for a celebration. Maybe you’re just celebrating another day of life, the fact that you have a good-paying job (or just a paying job), or your health and happiness. No matter the cause for commemoration, it should most certainly be done with a classy cocktail. Pay-day makes me just as happy as muddled fruit in a glass, so it’d be blasphemous of me not to combine the two and share my findings: Blackberry Lavender Margarita. It’s a cinch to make, and really is quite effortless. The real punch in this libation is the lavender simple syrup. Who knew that it’d marry so befittingly with sweet macerated blackberries? So enough talking already. Go on, imbibe. Let loose, kick up your heels, make whoopee, paint the town red, have a ball and raise hell. Because you deserve it.

5 (or more!) blackberries
1 ounce lavender simple syrup
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1 1/2 ounces tequila
1/2 ounce orange liqueur (Grand Marnier, Cointreau, Triple Sec)
Muddle the blackberries and simple syrup in a glass. Into a shaker, add the lime juice, tequila, and orange liqueur, and fill with ice. Shake vigorously and pour into the glass on top of the muddle fruit. Gently stir and enjoy.
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons lavender buds
Bring all ingredients to a boil in a small pot. Turn down the heat and let simmer for about three minutes. Turn off the heat completely, and let the syrup cool fully at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Strain into a bottle and store in the refrigerator.
